Calabria

Calabria Terra Incognita

“Troppo lontana, inaccessibile, grande, impenetrabile”.

Tropea e la Costa degli Dei - Tropea and the Coast of the Gods

Calabria. La Riviera dei Cedri - Calabria. The Citron Riviera

Extending south from the Basilicata border, this stretch of Calabria’s tyrrhenian coastline takes its name from the delicious citrus fruits grown here. The Riviera dei Cedri takes in the towns of San Francesco, Praia a Mare, San Nicola Arcella, Scalea, Diamante and, further south, Paola and Amantea. With longbeaches and picturesque inlets, the sea here sparkles with sunlight, simply begging to be explored by boat. A few kilometres inland, the Pollino massif rises to majestic heights, with its abundance of rivers, forests, and tiny villages with ancient traditions.

Reggio Calabria - Costa Viola - Aspromonte

The toe of the boot lies between two seas. To the west is the tyrrhenian and the purple–blue tinged waters of the Costa Viola. To the east is the Ionian, more delicate in its hues, but with delicious perfumes all along the jasmine coast. Between the two, like a huge cone of rock amid breathtaking scenery, stands the Aspromonte massif. With towering rocky peaks and swollen rivers, everywhere you turn here you see untamed nature. But there are also enchanting little towns, like Scilla, ghost towns like Pentedattilo, and noble cities like Reggio Calabria.
